Been working more with cel-vinyl the past few weeks. I've got a bunch of practice pieces that are really messy, and only a few that I'd call done, but I'm learning the medium.

Working without much guidance so concept has been kind of off the hip.

Headed down to a local comic shop that I've been meaning to get to and got the following gems.

Two very choice graphic novels. Orange is in full color (looks like it was done mostly digitally) and looks awesome. Maximum Ride is a manga adaptation done from what I understand is a really good book series.

So a friend of the family recently gave me his old drafting desk. It's very awesome, and the adjusting capability is better than I expected. So, I've been able to start pounding out some projects that have been in my head for a while. Among them has been for me to start experimenting with my painting some more. Here's two pieces that let me play with some interesting mediums and color schemes.

I figured a good warmup exercise would be to make a painting for a friend's xmas present. Just finished it and gave it to him today.

So fall semester just ended last week here at the UI. I took printmaking which was awesome (pictures below). My intro to graphics design class I didn't much care for, because it was mostly busy work. Another boring art history (2 down, and 2 to go), and an interesting web design class.

A relief print (self portrait) done with linoleum.

Second and third screen prints made together for final. Pointillism style (I guess).

So I recently created an account at Istockphoto. Now, I like the concept of their site and the setup is pretty well put together. However, guidelines for submission can be a bit strict. I mean I can understand reasons for it from their point of view, helps keeps things organized. The only real beef I've got with submissions is vector drawings. You can't save with anything past Adobe Illustrator 8 and keep the format they want for submission.

So seeing as I can't post them on Istock yet, have some fruit.

So, you know what's awesome? I had to reformat my computer recently (too much crap), which went pretty well. But now, for some reason the install disc for my scanner/printer has apparently vanished from the world as I know it. Furthermore, the manufacturer's site which used to allow free downloads of the install software, is now charging for it. Yay!

Hey all. Sorry for the lack of a new update, but my summer job's been pretty hectic (I HAD TO WORK ON MY DAY OFF!!!!!!). Sorry, had to get that out of my system.

Anyways, been putting more work into the sculpey and I tell you, it's a very humbling process. You've gotta have a lot of time to sit and do little tiny details, and with the hot weather, working with the easily mooshable (is that a word?) sculpey can be incredibly frustrating.

Work on the TMNT Foot Soldier continues. I've got the torso pretty much done, and the arms and hands are started. I'm a little unsure on some of the details, but I think they'll come to fruition after he's all baked and put together. If anyone has a suggestion for how I should pose the guy, lemme know (it'd be much appreciated). Here's a pic of what I've gotten done recently.

Also, I've started thinking about doing another model to go along with him and came up with the following concept drawing.

Hey all. Now, I realize it's been a super-uber-massively long time since I've put up a post, and I apologize. I was pretty busy this last semester, and I kinda forgot about the blog. And to add to my already busy summer work schedule, I'm taking an art class (Photoshop) that's helping to run me down. But it's cool, I'm learning alot, and my photoshop skills are benefiting from it. Hey there again anyone and everyone. I would have posted some drawings and things last week, but I had a %#@*-ton of assignments, projects, tests, and quiz's crammed into those five short days, and I played catchup on the weekend. So finally I've had some time to work on some drawings and play around with photoshop. Well, actually I was working with photoshop. I got my first graphic design request from a forestry group on campus. They were looking for someone to generate a picture or two for their website and a possible line drawing for shirts. I stepped up to the plate and put some honest hard work in on photoshop, and the group liked what they saw. They requested one drawing with three Ents (you know from lord of the rings) talking to each other because their group's nickname is the "Tree Amigos". And for their second drawing (the line drawing) they wanted a drawing of a gnarled old tree. Hence the two pictures below (I also rendered the tree in color for them too). I'm going to meet with the guy from the group who requested the drawings next week and get paid (Sweet!!).

In addition to this I've got some more drawings that I've been tooling around with in the past week or two in my off time. I haven't yet had chance to line edit any of them yet so they're still pretty rough. Oh, and by the way Marv and Boop is on hiatus for a little while longer ('til I get some more comics made :P).

I also made a shirt for my dad (really likes golf). I don't have a drawing of what the front looks like but, I pulled the the front from the original rendering I've got labeled as front. And the back is of my own design (it looks a lot better on the shirt :P).

I've found that if I really really take my time drawing, I can churn out some pretty good stuff (at least in my opinion it's really good).

Well that's it for now. Think I'll get some sleep (three day weekend whoohoo!!!)

My Wacom Intuos 6 x 11 pad came today. Complete with five button mouse and two button pen. 3 style of interchangeble nib (with 3 backup nibs), and a glorius 10 progamable button pad to boot.

Ahem....Anyways, before I sign off, figured I'd post the first decent drawing I've made with the pad thus far (last 2 hours have been set up and goofing around). Just a quick frame drawing of Rock "Fuzzy Brows" Lee with an incoming kunai dagger. I'll edit it some more later. Right now it's dinna time.

I think I'm continuing to get a better feel for photoshop. A buddy took a look at my comic and suggested that I spend more time with Illustrator for a smoother feel. Well good news, the comic is a success, at least in the physical sense. Apparently I did something right with the ftp program, because the comics have been uploaded at the right times...so far. Many thanks and props to the helpful ftp advice at comicgenesis.com . Without it I know I'd be lost. Well, that's pretty much all the news I have at the moment. I'll try and post some sketches when I have some more time.

Urgh...It's finals week. I know I've only got two of 'em, but they are doosies. First is math 175, and the other is Honors History. I'm no to worried about the math 'cuz I know the material pretty well, but the History is gunna suck. It's a long essay test over everything we've covered so far. We can't have notes, but it is open book. However, that's not saying much because there's like 7, that's right 7, different books that we used during the class. Addicting little game. Here

Everything's going awesome recently. Haven't had any homework at all this week. Finished throwing and trimming all of my cups in pottery. All wet work had to be done by Wednesday. Had my personal best on the wheel Tuesday. 10 cups in one hour. Friggin awesome. All that's left for pottery is glazing and finishing up all our work.

Golf is going amazingly well. I've finally got a good feel for my irons. No more slicing. Yay! :) Can't wait to work on my driving and fairway woods.

All actions have been taken to transfer me over to the art department. I am officially a BFA major. Woohoo! Hootch that pootch! Rad man, rad! Bossanova! Toobular! COWABUNGAAAA!!!

Only like two or three weeks left until the semester ends too. Yay, sweet non-educated, summer freedom.

I think that's about all the news for this week. Oh yeah. Hopefully, sometime next week I'll get another comic up.

Went to check on my page at myspace. Apparently there's a technical problem or soemthing cuz I can't visit my homepage to check for new messages or do much of anything. Oh well. Such is life.

But, everything else has been going well lately. I'm currently in the process of switching to a major I'm interested in. I'm going into a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a focus in graphics design. I've always like doodling and drawing in my spare time. Hopefully, with enough work in the art department I can further enhance skills I've already developed, and learn plenty more. Also, I've already eleminated quite a few classes required for the BFA through my current/old major. Pretty cool. I probably won't finish in the original four years as planned, but I think I will really enjoy being an artist.

Hey there.

Finally got fed up with the emails from classmates.com so I decided to fill out the form in hopes that they'd stop emailing me. Doubtful though.

However, I found three other classmates who registered too. I hope at least one of them will get in contact with me. This means you *points finger like uncle sam posters*. You know who you are.

I posted my blog here on the picture I posted there to get around the payfilter that classmates.com uses. Seriously, they spam you like crazy. Then, they won't even let you email other classmates without signing up to pay. Hopefully my devious scheme will work.

I now have another blog and profile started up at this site

However, it is likely that I'll almost never update it.

Not much more news for right now. I have an essay due friday that I haven't started yet, but I'm not too worried. I got a B+ on the last one barely trying, so I think I'll be alright.

So my dad and I went and helped clean up at the golf course that we play at. Every year they have an anual spring clean up for the course. Last year was pretty mellow, but this year they had cut up six full-grown trees. When I say full grown, they were like 100-150 years old. No lie. So after we spent the morning cleaning up these trees, I was looking forward to a round of golf, but guess what? It clouded up and started raining. Anger!!!! Oh well, it should be sunny this coming saturday, so we'll probably get some golf in.

Anyways, that's my news from the weekend.

I've finally gotten a chance to get back to work on my drawings. I'll create a post when I've got some ready. I'm trying to get a firm grasp on the anime and manga style of drawing, because I have an idea in mind for a series of books or episodes.

Hey again!

Pretty slow day today. Golf was a little slow. We practiced putting for an hour. Actually we watched as the instructor worked with one person at a time for about 45 minutes then started putting.

I did walk around downtown for a while and stopped in a few shops. Got some new manga, and picked up some Ginseng juice. Tastes like licorice. It's really strong at first, but you get used to it after a while. I started taking it last week because it's full of vitamin B and amino acids, and a really nasty combination of bronchitis and pneumonia has been going around. I think I might be addicted now. Ah well. I don't feel any different *twitch* *twitch*.

Oh yeah. I picked up some strawberry pocky too. It's ok, but the flavor gets to you after a few sticks. Well, it's probably better that way, so I don't eat too many sweets.

I guess I'd have to give today an 8 out of 10. A little boring, but I did get some neat stuff.

Today was pretty good for a class day. I didn't have any home work, and a couple of my cups came out of the kiln today. One got melted to the firing cones, but it can still be used. The other two turned out really neat though. I'll definitely get some pictures taken...someday. :)

I started taking a golf class today. Looks like it will help alot towards improving my score. The university's course is 18 holes long, which is double the size of the course I normally play on. So, this will be an interesting change.

I'm also taking a pottery class that helps me relax after frustrating class days. I've already made some neat stuff. When it's all done I'll post pictures.
